LUCIELLE
CHIESA DI S. LUCIELLA
EDIT CULT – NAPOLI
6 OCTOBER – 8 OCTOBER 2023
My latest creation, “Lucielle,” was crafted for the cultural event EDIT 2023 in Naples. In this remarkable context, I had the opportunity to explore a unique blend of the art of design and the Neapolitan religious tradition. In the heart of the charming historic center of Naples, the Church of Santa Luciella opened its doors to design enthusiasts for a site-specific installation that challenges the boundaries between the spiritual and contemporary aesthetics. This year, unlike my previous installations, I wanted to pay homage to Santa Lucia, the patron saint of vision, through the work of art “Lucielle.” In collaboration with the Caselli Real Fabbrica of Capodimonte Institute, I brought to life a porcelain project featuring a unique element, halfway between an almond and an eye. This element was replicated in multiple copies to create a distinctive composition that stands before the representation of the Saint. This fusion of Neapolitan tradition and contemporary design is the beating heart of “Lucielle.” My work would not have been possible without the valuable collaboration of local artisans, who contributed their deep expertise in Neapolitan tradition. “Lucielle” is infused with the essence and history of Naples, a tribute to the unique culture and beauty of this extraordinary city. “Lucielle” is much more than a work of art; it is a meeting point between sacred and contemporary design, a bridge between tradition and innovation, spirituality and modern aesthetics.
